Best snow tires for an Audi A4?

March 17th, 2010

I’ve had good luck with my Dunlop Winter Sports in the past. Now I need a new set. Need excellent snow traction but still very good performance. Have them on 16" wheels (215/55/R16). What would you recommend?
I suppose the category I’m looking for is the performance snow.

Is the Dunlop Radial Rover A/T a good tire?

March 17th, 2010

I have a 1985 Ford F-150. Trying to figure out which tire i want to buy. Dunlop Radial Rover A/T is the one that most caught my eye on Tirerack.com. I want the truck to have a nice, old school, muscle/work truck, kind of look you know? Thinking of some 235/70/16’s in the front and like a 275/70/16’s in the back. But uh, are these Dunlop’s a good tire. Anybody with some personal experience on how they perform, handle? How noisy they are? etc. Please let me know all that you know so i can get my truck on the street! Thanks to all the answerers.

Quick question? When a tire marking says, 265/70/16LT (which means Light Truck), does that necessarily mean i cant put that tire on my 3500 pound truck?….thanks.

What is the best all season tire for a 1999 Chevy Cavalier z24?

March 14th, 2010

I live in western South Dakota. The winters here can be rough-lots of snow and ice. The summers are very dry and hot. The tire size is 205/55R16. I’m looking for a all season tire. I was looking for Dunlop SP Sport 5000, but no one in this area has them. Right now I have Good Year Eagle LS tires and they seem fine, but I want something more high performance.

On a 155cc motorcycle what does the numbers on the tires and interior rubber mean?

March 11th, 2010

I changed my worn 3.00-17 rear exterior tire with a Dunlop Low Profile TT900 series tire having 80/80-17 markings but still used the old rubber interior of 3.00-17. I experienced two flat tires on separate occasions each time I had a backrider with me. Shop guy suggested I use a 2.50-17 rubber interior because the 3.00-17 interior inside the 80/80-17 exterior tire is too big. My question is, what do these numbers on the tires and interiors mean? And do I really have to select a more larger tire for the rear wheel than in the front or could I use the same wheel size for both front the rear of my motorcycle?

Good Tires for 05 Altima 3.5SE?

March 7th, 2010

I’m looking at Bridgestone Turanza Serenites. The local tire shop suggested Dunlop Signature Sport. Can anyone make any recommendations? I typically drive on 75mph highways or 45mph country backroads. I have dedicated winter tires so snow traction isn’t an issue. Price isn’t too much of a concern.

The car came with Bridgestone Turanza EL42s which get terrible reviews. I was fine with the EL42s except for the noise. The only tires I’ve ever used on the car are the EL42s and Dunlop Winter Sport M3s.

My EL42s were too worn down so I decided to trash them and put the snows on early. I was surprised at how much better the snow tires feel. Seems like that’s the opposite of how things should be.

Anyone have other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I'm about to pick up a 1999 Suzuki Intruder 1500 motorcycle tomorrow. What air pressure should Dunlops be at?

March 4th, 2010

The seller doesn’t know the answer and hasn’t ridden the bike in months. They are obviously underinflated. He doesn’t have an owners manual and I need to know the proper inflation of the dunlop tires. I’m guessing the bike’s weight at around 700 lbs. plus and I’m 250 lbs.

What is the widest rear tire I can mount on the standard rear rim on a 2001 Softail Standard?

February 28th, 2010

I’m hoping I can find someone with some experience with choosing the proper brand of tire for the rear wheel and still not rub the drive belt. Someone told me who makes a slightly wider tire than Dunlop but of course I can’t remember who told me or what brand I need. Thank you for any help.

2003 VW Passat New Tires?

February 27th, 2010

I have a 2003 VW Passat GLS Front wheel drive. I bought the car used from a VW Dealer in 2006. It came with new tires it was a weird brand that I have never seen before. Not long after I bought it the rubber started to come off my tires in chunks. So I took them to Discount Tire that carried that brand of tires and they offered to replace the tire that was defective or credit me money on all four tires. I took the credit and bought the Goodyear Triple Tread Assurance Tires. Discount Tire installed them and everything seemed great the tires handled awesome in the wintertime I live up in Minnesota by the way. I always was on top of my rotations for the tires. Last month when I went to get them rotated they said I should start looking into getting new tires which I expected because I got about 60,000 miles on them. I was really happy with the good years so I was thinking I would probably get the same ones again. Well today I went to Sam’s Club and I thought well while I’m here I will go and see what they charge for the Goodyear tires. When I walk in I ask the guy if they have the Triple Assurance Tires he says yes and ask what type of vehicle are they for. I tell him and he says that they would not mount those tires on my car because they are not designed to support the weight of a European vw car. I said well those are the tires I have on my car right now and he said that if I would go and look at my tires that they would be wore down on a angle and that is true I knew before I went in that the tires were wore on a angle. The guy then recommends me the Dunlop Signature 91H tire. Now that I’m home I have done some research and found that the Dunlop Signature is a Touring tire. I’m hopping to get a tire that is more performance driven then touring. Do you think I should believe the Sam’s Club guy? If anyone has any suggestions on what tires would be the best for my car that would be great. Remember they need to also be good in the winter to. Sorry about the long explanation. Thanks for the help Everyone.
Yes I had them for 2.5 years and drove all 60,000 miles. I thought they handled great on dry, wet and icy roads. Since your a tire guy what is a tire you would say is good for my car?
What I have found out yesterday that the Goodyear triple treads have a rating of 89H. The Goodyear eagle gt tires match my car rating but there is some mixed reviews on that tire.
